Located in the city centre district of St. Pauli in front of the famed Reeperbahn. The Kollisches Universum was opened in 1899 and it screened short film subjects as part of the variety programme. In 1909 the Welt Theatre opened in the same building, but it may have used a different auditorium. The Welt Theater was operated by Heinrich Bockmann and in 1927 it was taken over by Kathe Kahle. In 1933 it was equipped with a Klangfilm sound system.
The Welt Theaer was closed in 1941 due to wartime conditions and was soon demolished by Allied bombs during World War II.
