Located in the Eimsbuttel district to the north of the city. The Kammer Lichtspiele was equipped with a stage. The theater opened in 1913 and was operated by Martin Heilbutt. In 1914 the Lichtspiele Theater GmbH in Emelka Konzern took over. The Emelka Konzern operated the Emelka Theater, Kammer Lichtspiele, Passage Theater Monkebergstrasse, the Kursaal Theatre and the Reform Theater on Wexstrasse (all of which have their own pages on Cinema Treasures).
In 1931 the theater was equipped with a Klaron sound system. In 1932 the cinema was operated by Hans Struckmeyer & Wilhelm Behnke. In 1943 during World War II it was damaged by Allied bombs, but was repaired and re-opened in 1949. In 1956 it was equipped with CinemaScope. The projectors were Ernemann VII B.
The Kammer Lichtspiele was closed in 1968 and was demolished for a new building of the University Library.
