Located in the Altona district of Altona Altstadt to the northwest of the city. The Belle Alliance Theater was opened in 1906. It was operated by James (Jeremias) Henschel Konzern. James Henschel was a cinema pioneer and operated an important chain of cinemas. It was taken over by Ufa Filmtheater Bretriebs GmbH in 1918. The Belle Alliance Theatre housed its own orchestra of 20 musicians.
In 1943, the Belle Alliance Theater was destroyed by Allied bombs during World War II.
In 1949 a new Belle Filmtheater was built at a different address nearby at Max Brauer Allee 231-247. (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures)
