Reel Theatre

The Richfield Plaza Shopping Center launched with a grand opening on December 10, 1981 anchored by a Kmart store which had opened the previous October. Valley View Cinemas launched December 25, 1981 as a twin-screen venue playing Walt Disney’s “Cinderella” and Terence Hill in “Super Fuzz”. It was operated by Modern Cinema Theaters which would buy the downtown Huish Theatre in early-1982. The theatre operated as the Valley Twin Cinemas from 1982 to 1987.

In October of 1987, new operators renamed the venue the Reel Theatre Circuit took on both the downtown theater and the Valley Twin. Reel operated theatres in the Northwest United States. The twin was renamed The Reel Theatre. The theatre closed in 2005 and was retrofitted for other purposes in the shopping center. The Kmart closed in 2016 but the Reel operation of the downtown theatre continued including its major refurbishing in 2010.
