The American Falls Press announced the opening of the Irene Theatre October 23 1909, and by 1914 its advertisements for films along with vaudeville began to appear.
From 1925 to 1926 the whole town moved to higher ground to make room for the American Falls Reservoir. The Irene Theatre, owned by the Ben Brothers, moved on February 18, 1926, from 70 Chestnut Street in old town. The exact location is unknown but today when the water is low many of the foundations can be seen.
The Irene Theatre last appeared in Film Daily Year Book 1928 with 500 seats, by which time the new Iris Theatre, later known as the Americana Theatre, was built.
