Hollywood Kino at Kleine Komoedie Theater

Located in the centre district of Neuestadt. The Hollywood Kino at Kleine Komoedie Theater was opened in 1954 at the Kliene Komoedie Theater operated by Peter Ahrweiler. The Kleine Komoedie Theater opened in 1951 and was a small live comedy theater. Peter Ahrweiler manager, director, actor and cashier, was one person doing all jobs. His idea was to screen classic movies in the daytime in his theatre to help finance the live theatre in the evening. The opening attraction was Spencer Tracy & Katherine Hepburn in “Adams Rib” (Ehekrieg), directed by George Cukor. He used a 16mm Siemens 2000 projector. The idea was not very successful and he stopped screening movies in 1955, but the live theatre continued.

The Kleine Komoedie Theater was closed in 1994 and is now a Habitat store. On 3rd September 2004 Peter Ahrweiler died at the age of 89.
