In Plymouth city centre, The Barcode is a new £53m cinema & leisure complex, situated on the site of the former Bretonside bus station. A number of restaurants, including Zissi, Nando’s and Five Guys opened on Monday 21st October 2019. The 12-screen Cineworld Cinema - Plymouth was opened the following day on 22nd October 2019. The multiplex brought the first Dual Laser 1.9 and 4DX screens to Devon and Cornwall. The Fual Lazer 1.9 screen is the largest that Cineworld currently operates. The cinema also has a 4DX screen and all projectors are Christie laser projection.
Unfortunately, the cinema got off to an inauspicious start, with a number of screenings being cancelled, with little notice, due to what the company described as “unforseen circumstances”. However the problems were quickly resolved.
The cinema also offers a Baskin Robbins ice cream counter, rollover hot dogs, ICEE frozen drinks and a Starbucks cafe.
Seating capacities are: The Dual Laser 1,9:435, Screen 2:276, 4DX:136, Screen 4:180, Screen 5:93, Screen 6:79, Screen 7:73, Screen 8:77, Screen 9:49, Screen 10:174, Screen 11:175 and Screen 12:176.

Cineworld Plymouth IMAX is not IMAX with Laser but the old Dual 2K Xenon 1.9 aspect ratio system but with the latest IMAX 12 channel sound. The screen is taller than 1.9 so a future upgrade to 1.43 aspect ratio full IMAX with dual 4K Laser projection may be possible. The screen itself is the 5th largest in the UK and the largest screen at a Cineworld site in the UK.
