Located in the north city district of Barmbek Nord. The Scala Lichtspiele #2 was opened in 1949. It replaced the Scala Lichtspiele #1 located at Fuhlsbuettlerstrasse 118 which was destroyed by Allied bombs during World War II (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures) The Scala Lichtspiele was operated by Otto Peter, who was also the architect together with Helmut Oesterreich. The theatre contained a stage in front of the screen. In 1950 the cinema was listed with 845-seats by Stuessel. In 1957 CinemaScope was added and the Ernemann VII B projectors were replaced by B 8 B projectors by Bauer. The sound system weas by Klangfilm. In 1957 it was listed with 740-seats.
The Scala Lichtspiele was closed on 15th July 1962. It has been converted into a supermarket.
