Johnsons Indoor/Open Air Theatre was opened on 23rd June 1915. The Indoor Theatre had 1,500-seats and the Open Air Theatre had 1,067-seats.
On 16th April 1955 it was re-named Century Theatre with Humphrey Bogart in “The Cain Mutiny” and the Open Air Theatre was re-named New Century Theatre. It was destroyed by fire in 1964.
A new cinema was built on the site which opened on 14th September 1967 as the Silver City Cinema (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
