On May 2, 1953, Motion Picture Herald reported, “J. R. Francis, Melrose, N. M., newspaper owner, has bought the Rialto Theatre, Melrose, from Estell F. Stahl”.
The 1949 Film Daily Year Book listed Melrose’s Rialto Theatre with 225 seats.
