The Alhambra Kino was opened in 1924 with Friedrich Katssler in “Mutter und Kind” (Mother and Child). It was designed in a Moorish style by architect Heinrich Heckert. It was operated by the Wurthele family who also operated the Scala Kino in Lindenhof, the Schauburg and the neighboring Roxy.
In 1943 the Alhambra Kino was forcibly taken over by the Ufa chain. It was destroyed by Allied bombs in 1944.
A new Alhambra Filmtheater was built on the site in 1951 (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures)
