The Tivoli opened October 21, 2019, at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art with Buster Keaton’s “The General”, accompanied by music composed and performed by the Alloy Orchestra. Other films brought back include the Christmas favorite, “Miracle on 34th Street” and the MGM classic, “Dinner at Eight”.
According to local media, Jerry Harrington operated the former 3-screen Tivoli art house in Manor Square at 4050 Pennsylvania Avenue, which closed April 11, 2019, after 36 years.
The new location, in the museum’s 500-seat auditorium, is a partnership between Harrington and the museum, and has a larger screen, digital projection, and an upgraded sound system.
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, designed by William Wright, Thomas Wright, and Steven Holl, opened December 11, 1933.
