Located in the Eimsbuttel district of Hoheluft in the north of the city. The Capitol Lichtspiel Theater was opened on 15th October 1926 with 1,260-seats in orchestra and balcony levels.. It was designed by architects Schlote & Roever. It was operated by
Daenecke & Heeschen Lichtspiel OHG. The E VII B projectors were by Ernemann and the sound system was by Rohde & Schwarz. In 1943 the Capitol Lichtspiel Theatre was badly damaged by Allied bombs during World War II.
Repairs were carried out and it was re-opened on 21st January 1944 and was, in 1945, one of only ten cinemas screening movies to the public in Hamburg. In 1957 it was equipped with CinemaScope and a 4-channel magnetic stereophonic sound system was installed. The seats were by Kamphoener.
The Capitol Lichtspiel Theatre was closed in 1962. It was converted into a Budnikowski and Edeka store.
