Astra & Luna Filmtheater

In 1958 the ballroom of the hotel Essener Hof was converted into the Astra Filmtheater. All 430-seats are on a single floor. It was operated by Menz & Jaeck GmbH. The architects were Sichel – Schmidt and the interior decoration was by Loosen & Co. based in Essen. The E VII projectors were by Ernemann. The opening attraction was the Ufa movie “Scampolo”. In 1995 the Essener Filmkunst Kinos took over. Later a second 82-seat screen named Luna was added.
