On December 16, 1950, Boxoffice wrote, “Floyd Merrill has opened his new Lake Theatre in Stratton, NB, making the opener a free show. The new theatre replaces the old municipality operated theatre in the high school auditorium. The Lake Theatre has 364 seats and cost about $60,000”.
The 1951 Film Daily Year Book listed two theatres in Stratton, the Lake Theatre (364 seats) and the Moon Theatre (210 seats).

A note in a later issue of Boxoffice corrected the story to say that Floyd Merrill opened the Lake in Stratton, Nebraska. But I wonder whether the correction is what was wrong; the 1949 Film Daily Year Book had only the Moon Theatre under Stratton, Colorado.
Floyd Merrill died in 1996 and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Stratton, Nebraska. For some reason his name doesn’t come up on Find a Grave website. Trenton Damn / Swanson lake was being built in 1950, this the most likely reason for the name Lake Theater.
