On April 19, 1952, a very short note in Boxoffice said, “MISSOULA, MONT. - The new State Drive-In has been opened here”. It actually opened on July 12, 1949 with Robert Mitchum in “Blood on the Moon”.
The 1952 Theatre Catalog listed the State Drive-In with a capacity of 400 cars, owner William Fowers.
The drive-in was still intact in a 1966 aerial photo and still outlined in a 1984 topo map, but had been replaced by housing by 2003. The curve of Harmony Court matches (and replaced) the curve of one of the State’s back ramps.
