The Colby Theatre was built in 1928 at the corner of W. Clark Street and S. 1st Street in downtown Colby, Wisconsin. A Streamline Moderne style makeover in 1937 led to the theatre’s name to be the New Colby Theatre for a short period of time. In September 1954 it was refurbished and equipped with CinemaScope. The Colby Theatre closed on June 15, 1961 and was repurposed for a manufacturing business. The property was later converted to a multiple unit dwelling called the Theater Apartments and was still operational into the 2020’s.
