The Happy Hour Theatre opened in 1911 and was Lake Placid’s first movie theatre. It’s owners and operators were know as Messrs. Walton & Adams. On May 16, 1926, the Adirondack Theater Corporation took over the Happy Hour Theatre. The ATC opened a newer theater, the Palace Theatre, down the street two weeks later.
The Happy Hour Theatre was still open in 1928 closed before the silent era was over. The building was converted to an apartment building with storefronts, and another floor was added. It is now known as the Wanda Building, and is still standing.
