Darcia Cinema

Located close to the Gara de Nord (North Railway Station) in the city centre. The Marconi Cinema was named after Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of radio tranmission signals. It opened in 1930. Seating was provided in orchestra and balcony levels.

When the Communists took over the country in November 1948 it was re-named Alexandru Popov Cinema. In the era of Nicolae Ceausesau, it was re-named Dacia Cinema. It has been closed for many years and has been abandoned. The ceiling has collapsed. It is regarded as a Heritage building.
