The Park Theatre, in the Allington section of West Haven, is right across a green from the (now demolished) Forest Theatre. Although the Park Theatre closed down around 1943 its name is still etched above what must have been the entrance to its lobby. That space now houses a clothing shop. I do not know for what the former auditorium is used.

aaafter speaking to the owner of the Forest theater I found out that his grandfather who owned the forest befor he passed away owned the park theater It was shut down shortly after the forest was purchased by him in 1943
The current storefronts are a barber, package store, Cosmetology Academy and an Indian restaurant. On the right side in the back is a small garage door, maybe from another use when it closed.
In the rear, it’s apparent that the current stucco was just spackled on carelessly as it’s chipping off everywhere to expose the original brickwork underneath.
Has anyone ever seen a picture of this Park Theatre? I’m searching for one and more history to preserve it for the town.
Hey gabby648, I don’t know if you’re still interested, just letting you know I added a photo of the Park Theatre, and about 20 more photos of theatres around New Haven, as well.
So West Haven used to have 8 theaters, but they’re all gone now. Sad. Where do these people go for entertainment? The city couldn’t even keep ONE for a community center?
