Kali Kamera Lichtspiele

Located in the Rathaus district of the city centre. The Kali Kamera Lichtspiele was opened in 1915 and was operated by August Daub. A water fountain was installed in the foyer. The cinema was badly damaged by Allied bombs during World War II.

In 1949, Willy Schweinfurt (he was located in Karlsruhe) took over and a new cinema was built in the ruins after plans by architects Eisenlohr & Pfennig. Art house movies and newsreels were screened. Two B8 projectors by Bauer were installed with an optical sound reader by Roxy. In 1956 CinemaScope and a 4-channel stereophonic sound system by Europa Klarton was added. In 1958 the Palast AG Thiele took over running the cinema. In 1966 the cinema was modernised after the plans of architect Hans Kieser. In 1986 a second screen was added.

The cinema was closed around 2000/ In 2008 it was in use as a store.
