Opened in the early-1980’s as a twin-screen theatre. It was operated by the Boyd family. In the early-2000’s it was expanded to 5-screens. It was destroyed by a tornado on November 10, 2002. All patrons inside the theatre were taken to the safety of the sturdier built lobby and restrooms areas. One man was killed due to him being unable to get out of his car in time. The tornado also destroyed the adjacent Ridgeway Drive-In and the Boyd family home.
The Van Wert Cinemas was rebuilt and reopened in 2004 with “The Incredibles” & “Polar Express”. It was operated by Boyd Theater Circuit. By 2025 it was operated by Saunders Theater Properties.

This was originally a twin under the name “Van Wert Twin Cinemas” and operated as early as the early-1980s. That was back when Lincoln Highway was formerly known as West Ridge Road. It expanded to five screens sometime in the early-2000s just before the tornado.
