Konigsbau Lichtspiele

Located in the Stuttgart city centre district of Stuttgart-Mitte. The Konigsbau Lichtspiele was opened in 1921 as part of the Konigsbau building which was designed after the plans of Christian Friedrich von Leins and architect Johann Michael Knapp in 1860 for King Wilhelm I.

It contained stores, offices, a concert room and a ballroom. The Konigsbau Lichtspiele was operated by Schwabische Urania Gmbh / U.T. im Konigsbau. Around 1924 the company was renamed Schwabische Urania GmbH & Ufa Konigsbau Lichtspiele. The cinema was demolished by Allied bombs in World War II.

After the War ended the Konigsbau building was repaired, but a cinema was not included in the rebuilding scheme.
