The 1914 map shows a ‘Picture Theatre’ in the ground floor of a three-story brick building containing a Moose Lodge. This structure first appears on the 1908 map, as a pool room and penny slot machine establishment. It may have been built as part of the Arlington Hotel complex, just north of the railroad tracks (which have long since disappeared).
On the 1908 map, the rear section is a simple two-story wooden structure, but the 1914 map shows this has been rebuilt with brick. The auditorium is noted as ‘from plans’ so the theatre was likely not yet in operation as of July, when the map was issued. The Theatre had closed by 1924 and had been demolished to build a store.
This whole section of the block has since been replaced by a dreary modern office building.
