Located in Ashford, Kent. The Electric Picture Palace was opened on 18th December 1911 and was operated by the Ashford Entertainment Co. It was designed by architect A.E. Lacey. There were 600-seats in the stalls and 200-seats in the circle. On 11th November 1929 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system and Al Jolson in “The Singing Fool” was the first ‘talkie’ to be screened here. It was taken over by the East Kent Cinema Company and was re-named Palace Cinema. It was closed on 22nd July 1939 with Claudette Colbert in “Zaza”.
The building was taken over by the Kent Paper Company who left the building in 1956. It was demolished in 1962 and a branch of Courts furnishers was built on the site.
