Dreamland Theatre

This theatre appears on the 1910 Sanborn, in a two-story brick commercial building, which was constructed between 1886 and 1892. By 1905, it had received a one-story extension on the rear, and was in use as a dry goods store. The dividing wall to this rear storeroom remained after it became a theatre.

Th theatre remained in operation on the 1921 map. The Dreamland Theatre was operated by the Alliance Theatre Corp. chain by 1948 and was closed around 1958. The building reverted to retail at some point. It is visible (as the ugly yellow plastered thing) on the very blurry 2009 streetview, but is now a vacant lot. I believe it was still standing in 2015, but had been so badly remodeled that I didn’t take a picture. The address is a guess, based on the Fowler Theatre being 111 E. 5th Street.
