Sometime between 1899 and 1904, the Knights of Pythias constructed a substantial three-story brick building on the corner of W. Washington Street and N. Front Street. They used the third floor as a lodge hall, the second floor was the local National Guard armory, and the first floor was storefronts.
By 1909, the western section had been divided, and the new central storefront was occupied by a ‘5ยข theatre’. By 1921, the theatre had expanded to roughly the original floor plan, evicting the post office from the corner. An irregular shaped storefront had been added to the rear corner facing Front Street, and sold pianos and phonographs.
By 1942, the theatre was gone, and the building is shown as one large store. No later than 1955, this building was demolished and replaced by a gas station.
