Status should be: Demolished. Street View of October 2024 shows demoliton going on.
I was wrong in the history summary I wrote previously. The Bay Theatre was NOT constructed by the federal government between 1943 and 1945. It was a project by Evergreen Theaters, and opened in April 1945.
The Bay Theatre opened its doors on April 21, 1945 with Bing Crosby in “Going My Way” along with the musical short “Showboat Serenade”, the Paramount comedy short “Who’s Who In Animal Land” (listed as a cartoon for some strange reason), and a newsreel, featuring Bodiform seats and green, gold, red, and maroon for the color schemes around the theater.
I am sad to report that the old Bay Theater / Bay Bowl building in Bremerton is destined to be demolished. A large apartment building will be built in its place.
