The city of Axtell, KS had 2 theaters; the Electric Theatre and the Royal Theatre, in which the New Royal Theatre opened on October 21st, 1921. Despite of being a popular theatre for the city of Axtell, this theatre was never converted with CinemaScope in the 1950’s, but their nearby location, the Seneca Theatre did convert in September 1954. However, the Royal Theatre continued to operate as a movie house until 1959. The theatre ended up closing later on, but reopened in April 1961 in which focus on special events. Some films were also representative though later on, and was still in operation since 1972. I can’t find the closing date to this.
