The 1904 Sanborn shows a typical frontier downtown of almost entirely wooden buildings. One of these is a large structure at the corner of 1st Avenue E and Cherry Street. It is simply built, one story tall. The northern section (which is much deeper) houses an implement dealership, and the southern section a saloon.
By 1910, the southern storefront houses ‘moving pictures’, and the rear of the northern section has become residential. By 1914, the entire front section is now the Unique Theatre, and the building has been clad in metal. It was closed in 1939 and was demolished.
The Siston Theatre was built on the site and in 2020 the corner is occupied by the derelict Siston Theatre.
