The Palace Theatre was Springtown’s silent era movie theater. It appears to have been equipped with sound in 1930 but closed in 1931 during the Depression. In 1947, the trade press reported that J.L. Eatmon reopened the venue as the Dale Theatre. He sold it that year to A.J. Hicks and D.L. Feldman who changed its name to the Mazda Theatre. In March of 1951, the Mazda Theatre was part of a state-wide saturation release of the movie, “The Kid From Texas”. The Mazda Theatre was still open in 1957, but appears to have gone out of business in the late-1950’s.
