The Tonhallen Theater was opened in October 1910 and was operated by Miersch. Later it was re-named Metropol Theater. In 1931 a Klangfilm/Tobias sound system was installed. In 1941 it was destroyed by Allied bombs during World War II.
In 1955 a new Metropol Theatre was built on the site. It was designed by architect Ernst Huhn. It was closed in 1962.
