Located in the district of Elberfeld, the Apollo Theater was opened in 1950. It was designed by architect Werner Klotzbach and was operated by Vereinigte Lichtspieletheater KG Eugene Schultheiss. The Apollo Theatre contained 562-seats in the orchestra and 250-seats in the balcony. The auditorium walls were covered with red velvet and the screen curtain was grey. The size of the stage was 10.4x7 meters. In 1956 a CinemaScope screen was added and the E VII B projectors were replaced by E X projectors by Ernemann. The Apollo Theater was closed in 1962 and was converted into a furniture warehouse. In 2012 it was in use as a discotheque named Apollo Club which continues in 2020.
Not to be confused with the Rex Filmtheater which was also named Apollo Theater for a short time (this has its own page on Cinema Treasures)
