Located in the city center district of Altstadt-Sud. The Aki Aktualitaeten Kino on Newmarkt was opened in November 1953 as a newsreel theatre. It was operated by Aki Aktualitaeten Kino AG of Frankfurt, Main. It was the 10th cinema in the Aki chain and the 2nd Aki in Koln. The cinema was designed by architects Hanns Ruttgers, Haehnlein & Neumann. The auditorium was coloured yellow & red. The FP 5 projectors were by Phillips and the seats were by Kamphoener.
The length of the programme was 50 minutes, including 3 newsreels by Welt im Film, Ufa Wochenschau & Fox toendende Wochenschau, a short film and a cartoon. The admission was 50 phenninge. The screenings started at noon and closed at midnight.
The Aki was closed in June 1968.
