The IMAX Kino XXL Bochum was opened in 1997. It was operated by I.M. Theater Gesellschaft mbh, a part of the Ufa Theater AG chain. The size of the IMAX screen was 26x19.5 meters. It was equipped with analog 70mm IMAX projectors, for 2D & 3D polaroid movies. The 6-channel sound system by Sonics had 32, 000 watts.
The cinema was closed in 2003 and was converted into a casino.
