The Empire Cinema was opened in 1912. For many years it was operated by R. Davis, who also operated the Grand Kinema in Flint. From 1950 to 1954 both cinemas had been taken over by the Paramount Picture Theatres Ltd. chain based in Welshpool. By 1955 they were both independently operated. The Empire Cinema was demolished in 1967.
