The Dreamland Theatre was operating by 1907. It was located in the Highland Park amusement park which was located between S. Highland Avenue and Hokes Mill Road in West York on the north side of Codorus Creek. (The address given here is very approximate to the actual location) It was closed on April 24, 1914.
The Highland Park amusement park also contained a 4-story Opera House which was destroyed by fire in 1909.

A cursory check of newspapers.com reveals one reference to York’s Dreamland. The November 14, 1907 edition of The Harrisburg Daily Independent reports a fire at the Dreamland in York.
eBay had a vintage postcard of the Highland Park amusement park in York, with the Dreamland Theatre in the photo. It was postmarked in 1914, but the card might have already been several years old at that time. There is no Dreamland Theatre among the ten movie houses listed at York in the 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory.
Joe Vogel, Dreamland is mentioned in the February 14, 1914 issue of the Motion Picture News, the “Universal Ike” article. Ancestry.com has a few city directories from the1907-1914 period that would most likely supply an address and perhaps name of the operator. Too rich for my humble retirement income, but anybody here who subscribes to that service could perhaps add a little more life to this theatre.
A. M. Welliver and the Dreamland Show are also mentioned in an ad for the Universal Film company in the February 7, 1914 issue of The Moving Picture World.
The April 24, 1914 York Daily reports, “Sheriff Closes Dreamland” “Moving Picture Theater and Furnishings Seized For Rent Debt”
The theatre was located in the Hay building, W Market Street near Beaver. Rent owed was $1150.01. The landlord was S W Woolworth, the theatre owner was J L McLaughlin. According to the article, the Dreamland had been in the building for almost one year. The piano was returned to the Weaver Organ and Piano Company.
