“The Martin Drive-In was the first drive-in theatre in Marietta. It was among the Martin Theatres owned by Ed and Roy Martin. The chain also owned the Strand Theatre and others in the Marietta area at the time. Zimmerman’s father, James Zimmerman was the city manager for the company and managed the Strand Theatre. His brother, Jerome Zimmerman was the manager of the Martin Drive-In under James Zimmerman’s supervision.
A story in the May 19, 1960, Marietta Daily Journal stated that the Manning and Wink theater chain “sold out their theatrical interests in Cobb County to the Martin Theatre chain” on September 4, 1943. The article said that in June 1945, the group opened the Bell Theatre, which closed in 1958. Martin Theatres also opened “Martin Drive-In in 1948, Fair Oaks Drive-In in 1950 and Georgia Drive-In in 1956".

The Martin Drive-In was still intact and apparently operational in 1968. By 1972, it was being demolished.
