Finchley Rink Cinema

Located on the High Road in North Finchley. This Tudor Revival style building was opened as the Finchley Skating Rink in 1910. Used for roller skating, that craze soon waned and it was converted into the Finchley Rink Cinema which opened on 26th December 1912. On Saturday 18th February 1913 a Murdoch Grand Concert Organ was initiated. During World War I it was used by Whitworth Engineering, who produced war materials. It re-opened as a cinema in 1918 and was closed in 1923.

The building became a workshop for Carrimore Six-Wheelers Ltd. (a lorry manufacturer). In the 1970’s it became a Hall’s of Finchley new car showroom. It then became a furniture showroom. It was demolished in the 2010’s and a block of flats now occupy the site.
