Located in Ballywalter, County Down. The Savoy Cinema opened on 16th July 1937 at 6pm and appears to have closed around 3rd November 1938. No details are known about the building or where exactly it was located. We also have no information to hand about seating capacity, equipment or its owner. Advertisements for the programmes appeared in the County Down Spectator on a weekly basis from opening through to closure.
Ballywalter being a small village, it’s unlikely that it could have supported two cinemas - see separate entry for the Tatler Cinema (formerly Mid-Ards Cinema) on Cinema Treasures, which possibly explains why the Savoy Cinema had such a short life span.
