The Metro Theatre was opened by 1916. When the Metro Theatre was acquired by local theatre magnet Mike Glynne by 1930, he upgraded the stage and seating of the venue and changed it’s name to Glynne’s Greenport Theatre.
The theatre was destroyed in the New England Hurricane on September 9, 1938. Prudential Theatres built a new Greenport Theatre on the site. (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

Uploaded an image as the Metro, announcement of acquisition by Mike Glynne, ad as Glynne’s Greenport and ad from the September 1920 Paramount Week showing the, at that time, Metro, participating in a special screening event.
Uploaded a photo of all that remained of the theatre after the 1938 hurricane.
Re my November 2020 posting, the photo of the Metro was taken in 1922 which I ascertained by enlarging the one advertising poster for the movie The Forgotten Law.
Uploaded an image of the Metro from 1916 which appeared in the June 2022 Peconic Bay Shopper. With all the bunting I am presuming this was the opening of the theatre. You will notice the name appears on the front of the building. Comparing it with the photo I uploaded previously from 1922 this was prior to the installation of a vertical.
