The Auditorium was a circular building, initially a concert & music hall. It opened by Svenska Bio as a cinema on 16th January 1914. In October 1942 it was re-named Vinterpalatset. Seating was provided for 913. On 4th September 1958 it was equipped with 3-strip Cinemiracle projection system and a multichannel stereophonic sound system. The size of the screen was around 20x8 meters. The opening film was the Cinemiracle production “Windjammer: The Voyage of the Christian Radichs”.
From 13th July 1960 to 6th September 1964 3-strip Cinerama productions were screened. From 9th November 1964 the Vinterpalatset went over to screening 70mm productions.
The cinema was closed and demolished in 1978. The final film screened was Charlton Heston in “Earthquake”, presented in 70mm & Sensorround sound.
