This theater opened op December 1st, 1960, with the Elvis movie G.I. Blues. It was a so-called royal opening since members of the Thai royal family attented the premiere. G.I. Blues ran for 6 weeks and was a huge success. Interesting to mention is the fact that the King and Queen of Thailand visited the set of G.I. Blues on June 1960, during their tour of goodwill in the USA and 13 European countries between June 1960 and January 1961. Even though the venue was named the Paramount, it was not owned nor managed by Paramount Studios.
