The Please-U Theatre opened as early as 1917, and closed on May 31, 1923 after a devastating fire destroying most of the Bailey and Smith’s Blocks, including the Please-U Theatre, a music store, a shoe repairman and a grocery store (Smith’s Cut Price Cash Grocery Store). The buildings that were mostly listed were either destroyed or damaged during the fire, and it cost an estimate and devastating $50,000, down the drain for the damages of the fire). But the Please-U Theatre is completely destroyed during the fire.
