Located in Burnbank, a district to the northwest of Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, and today is absorbed into Hamilton. The Plaza Picture House was opened in November 1925. It was the first purpose-built cinema in the George Singleton Cinemas Circuit. The façade was covered with glazed white tiles and it had a central arched entrance. The proscenium was 24ft wide. Around 1930 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. In the mid-1950’s it was equipped with CinemaScope and the proscenium was widened to 36ft.
Singleton Cinemas closed the Plaza Picture House in 1961 and it was modernised. The front of the building was altered and became plain brick and the interior was gutted. The bingo club closed in 1996 and lay derelict until it was demolished.
