Located in the mining village of Annitsford, Northumberland, to the north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The Coronation Hall Cinema was opened on 7th June 1911. It was designed by architect J. Newton Fatkin of Newcastle. All seating was on a single floor. The projection box was at the rear of the auditorium supported on pillars. The small stage was 6ft deep and there was one dressing room. It was equipped with a Knightphone sound system. It presented cine-variety.
In early-1937 a new entrance porch was built onto the front of the cinema which had a new projection box above it. The stage was widened at this time. In the 1950’s a Western Electric(WE) sound system was fitted. Affectionately known as the Cora Cinema, it was closed on 25th June 1960. The building lay unused until it re-opened as a bingo club in may 1963. It was not a success and it soon closed.
In November 1977 while the building was being demolished a local boy was killed and three were injured when the building collapsed on them.
