In Reading, Berkshire, West’s Picture Palace opened in the New Foresters' Hall on 4th November 1909. The lessee was Australian cinema chain operator T.J. West. Shows were twice nightly, at 7pm and 9pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2.30pm. Adverts proudly proclaimed a “First Class Orchestra”.
By early-1910 the lessee was Mattie Cheshire; that August H. Battersby took over.
This very short-lived cinema closed during World War I.
It is assumed the building has long been lost to redevelopment of this city centre site.
