The Mountain-Air Drive-In is one of the oldest Drive-Ins in the Beckley and Oak Hill areas in West Virginia. The Mountain-Air Drive-In opened on October 7, 1948 with Joel McCrea in “Ramrod”. The theater was owned and operated by Joe Buffa and Bill Patteson, both from Oak Hill, and was located between Glen Jean and Oak Hill on Route 19-21.
The Mountain-Air Drive-In operated until November 1963, when the theatre closed actually 3 weeks prior to the then-President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

The Mountain-Air Drive-In closed at the expiry of a 15-year leasing agreement on November 2, 1963 with “Cape Fear” and “The Outsider”
A closer address is 159 Vine Ln Oak Hill, West Virginia.
I understand that it’s right next to Glen Jean and that works, too. But it does appear that Oak Hill is the proper town for the address.
I also understand that Vine Ln didn’t exist when the drive-in did, but it was the entrance road to the drive-in and the only way I could pin down the address.
The drive-in shows up quite nicely in a 1957 aerial, but is gone by 1970. Today, the property is a trailer park with no trace of the drive-in remaining.
