Built as a replacement for the original Garden Theatre which was destroyed by fire on February 18, 1985 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The Garden Theatre was opened on November 12, 1985 and was operated by Don Engel. It was closed on July 31, 1988 with Val Kilmer in “Willow”.
In November 2015 it was reopened as a community playhouse theatre by Richie & Heather Akers. Since June 2018 it has been operated by Jamie & Andrea Henley. The theatre now has upholstered chairs and sofas, rather than conventional theatre seats.
