The town’s former post office was converted into the Palisade Opera House in 1915. By the time the project was completed, it was apparent that movies would become the primary attraction of the Opera House. Live events were also sporadically programmed. The theatre was renamed the Valley Theatre and converted to full-time movie operation.
The Valley Theatre closed April 30, 1921 with Pearl White in “White Moll”. It was ostensibly replaced by the new-build Oliver Theatre in downtown Palisade. In May of 1921 the equipment was moved to the Airdome in the tiny village of Hamlet, Nebraska. Charles Sailors retrofitted the space for a restaurant.
